Designated Space.

I found this on one of my new favorite sites Pinterest and thought to myself now THAT is a brilliant idea.

In the same moment, I decided I need to plan a Flea Market adventure because I now have another antique to shop for.

Where is your favorite flea market located? Details and directions please.

Linear Quality.

Inspiration can come from the unlikeliest of places and it is that notion that makes fashion and art so fascinating. How did that get you there? The beauty is always in the details.

Segue to Italian artist Andrea Gallo who found these amazing old architecture drawings and created this set of posters entitled, "Six Architects." They were featured on Arch Daily and will be available for purchase coming shortly.

Which one is your favorite?

Storybook Fashion

What a treasure Kevin Kidney unearthed in these original color negatives from a 1961 fashion shoot at Disneyland.

The original captions accompanying the story contain words to live by, such as "There's no telling what might happen when you choose high-waisted banana capris and a clown blouse..." or "Five o'clock, add a turban, meet your date, and go."

We couldn't agree more. View the entire collection here.

music to move you into the weekend

WOW. We are speechless after this performance by Kimbra. With her dark bob, red lipstick and haunting vocals, she is like a modern day Edith Piaf (infused with a little bit of rock and roll). We love everything about this lady.

Fridays featured blog: A Beautiful Mess

We have a total girl crush on Elise, author of A Beautiful Mess. This 28-year-old designer has an eye for fabulous vintage clothing. She loves making pretty things, especially things she can wear, and we just love what she makes! Check out her independent boutique full of magical handmade and vintage things, Red Velvet!

have you heard?

Portrait of an Illustrator

Bernadette Pascua of Decade Diary is more than one to watch. Her illustrations are stunning and can be found featured in the likes of British VOGUE, French GLAMOUR, Stylecaster and W to name a few.

Her inspiration is, "Chronicling past, present interests and future perspectives of a decade lived in New York City."

Dear Bernadette,
We love your sketches. May you continue to be inspired by your muses.
Love, Us

Oh the joy of being able to put ink, paint and pencil to paper and come up with this ~

"I'm not like anyone, I'm me" - Elizabeth Taylor

Such sad news that film and cultural icon Elizabeth Taylor passed away this morning at the age of 79. She was not only a stunning beauty but had the talent and strength to back it up. We remember Elizabeth with a clip from this Turner Classic Movies tribute narrated by Paul Newman.

music that makes us swoon

Cold and cloudy morning has us loving The Avett Brothers, and this amazing stop motion video looks like what Vincent Van Gogh would paint if he were living today.

Shop and Give.

(courtesy of YouHaveBeenHereSometime)

It is hard to write pretty prose and be inspired when a section of our world is in peril.

The best thing I can say is if you were planning on buying a gift either for a loved one or yourself, why not shop and give at the same time.

Libertin Louison's Technique Indiscrete has created 1000 limited edition bottles of lavendar perfume, named "For Them" to be sold with 100% of the profits going toward relief aid for Japan.

Buy. Give Back. Donate. Gain a fragrance.

Rodarte at Museum of Contemporary Art

On Saturday a couple of us Seychelles girls headed over to MOCA's Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood to view Rodarte: States of Matter. Although a very small exhibit, it did not disappoint. States of Matter showcases the original ballet costumes worn in the film Black Swan, plus select pieces from Rodarte's Spring 2010, Fall 2010 and Fall 2008 runway collections.

The exhibit was beautiful and haunting. Exhibition designer Alexandre de Betak did a brilliant job of lighting. The gallery showing the black swan costumes were filled with an eery red light, while the gallery featuring the white swan costumes flickered with strobes, obstructing the viewer's vision and creating a sense of anxiety reminiscent of the film.

Rodarte: States of Matter is on view at the Pacific Design Center through June 5. We highly recommend you stop by.

The Impossible Cool

Found this amazing little tumblr and let me just say, The Impossible Cool definitely lives up to it's name.

top to bottom: Marlon Brando, Anouk Aimee, Muhammed Ali, Janis Joplin, Thelonious Monk

Representing the Band.

Art is everywhere, you just have to be paying attention.

I recently stumbled upon Gig Posters and found a marketplace where graphic artists showcase their designs made for concerts gigs.

I love the concept of being able to own a part of musical history. Shop for your favorite bands and meet some new designers along the way.

genius

“She came in, and the costume lady [Nancy McArdle] on ‘Annie Hall’ said, "Tell her not wear that. She can’t wear that. It’s so crazy.’ And I said “Leave her. She’s a genius. Let’s just leave her alone and let her wear what she wants.”

Beauty is shoe, shoe beauty...

It's not new, but it never ceases to delight us. Today we were newly inspired by thumbing through Shoes, Shoes, Shoes, a compilation of Andy Warhol's early shoe drawings paired with excerpts from his personal diaries.

DIY - Flower Crown
