Belle...

With her head-turning look during London's Swinging 60's, its no surprise that Jean Shrimpton's style is still influencing trend setters nearly fifty years later. As this week's icon obsession, Ms. Shrimpton has inspired this attainable ensemble featuring our very own "Rita".

À la mode: Seychelles look of the week

This week we chose Miss Scientist’s amazing combination of “Tippy Toes” and socks! Her grey pleated skirt and J. Crew striped knee highs were a creative match for these open-toed booties. We love her attitude and admire her fashion philosophy that “personal style is about owning what you wear and being confident in your choices.” Take a closer look at Miss Scientist's style on chictopia. Find "Tippy Toes" here.

Darling DIY!

Funky, feminine hair pieces made their debut several seasons ago and I'm happy to say, I don't think they're going anywhere! Some of our favorites can be found at Anthropologie, Ban.do, and Free People. Better yet, why not use the simple diy steps for these easy ribbon rosettes and design your own.

Belle...

This week's style obsession is Italian film star, Monica Vitti. The montage below combines stills from two of her films, "L'avventura" and "L'eclisse". The pairing of these shots with the French staccato of Alif Tree's baseline... c'est magnifique!

À la mode: Seychelles look of the week

The weather is warming up and the rompers are coming out!
This week we fell in love with Erin's Spring look. Her vintage onesie and school girl cardigan pair perfectly with whiskey oxfords and white nylon socks. We agree, this retro pallet of baby blue and sherbet peach make a magical combination.

Lighten up, Calivintage style. Take a closer look at "Blimey" here.

Hold the milk...

While the idea of discussing fashion over tea with Lagerfeld and Gaultier is quite thrilling, I can't quite get past the fact that none of these style geniuses would be wearing any pants...

Thanks Prêt-à-porTea for the amazing concept!

Gearing up for a Pot o' Gold

Its true. Not all of us wish to partake in the obligatory green outfit, green beer or green eggs that St. Patty's Day is so accustomed to. So in honor of rainbows and leprechauns everywhere, I've decided to share some alternatives with you. A big thanks to Design*Sponge, Cupcakes and Cashmere, and Apartment Therapy for their festive diy ideas.

Oh! How our hearts swoon...

What more can be said? Anna Karina is the epitome of french celluloid style and this week's icon obsession. Brought to fame by new wave director Jean-Luc Godard, this doe-eyed beauty captivated audiences with her music and film throughout the 1960s. Take a look at this adorable montage of Anna Karina and some of her most notable work.

...and I just had to add this special little treat:

Apparently we're not the only ones swooning over this vintage starlet. Take a look at "A Girl in Love", a new collection by Every Little Counts.

À la mode: Seychelles look of the week

This week we are completely charmed by Lululetty's menswear-inspired look. Perfectly vintage, Maria pairs her oversized khaki trousers with a high-waisted belt and wool blazer. Seychelles lace-up oxford booties complete the outfit by adding a feminine twist. The perfect accessory? Wellington, of course! Who would've thought a pug could make modeling look this easy.

Find Maria and Wellington showing off their Seychelles style here. Take a closer look at "Cheerio" here.

Swedish Songbirds

Last week a couple of us were lucky enough to catch the last stop on El Perro del Mar's North American tour with Taken by Trees. The Swedish songstresses captivated us with tunes from their latest albums, Love is Not Pop (El Perro del Mar) and East of Eden (Taken by Trees).
Photobucket

Victoria Bergsman of Taken by Trees set a demure tone, offering folky melodies and global instrumentation while the bells adorning her ankles jingled nervously. After a brief break, El Perro del Mar, aka Sarah Assbring, complimented the audience's mood with her melancholy lyrics as she floated around stage, ethereal and nymph-like. Much to our delight, Assbring also included her cover of the XX's "Shelter", which performed live proved to be better than imagined. In the end, the co-headliners left us cerebral and reflective after their mellow yet mesmerizing performances.

She & Him: Volume Two

With music and lyrics written by Zooey Deschanel (She) and produced by M. Ward (Him), the duo's sequel to their original "feel good" album is set to debut later this month. We're all ears as Volume Two promises to offer up the same sugary-sweet tones and vintage harmonies as Volume One. Find the album's debut music video here.

Never-before-seen, Bourdin...

Last fall in Paris, famed fashion photographer, Guy Bourdin, was honored with a film exhibition showcasing a selection of his lost work. The footage revealed never-before-seen short films produced between the 1960s through the 1980s. We find his provocative vision quite intriguing. View the entire showcase, Guy Bourdin, Ses Films. Learn more about the artist.
